No offence guys but from what I have seen in my many years being around my brothers and my Brother-in-Laws and yes even my own husband is that men seem to assume we want what they might think we want. when really we rather have something else and then when the time comes and we open that gift your usually gonna be in the dog house because we wanted something else.
One year my own husband bought me bath stuff and I wanted the same thing the other ladies were getting.Which were jewelry.Yes most times I would tell him no I don't wear that stuff or I want a camera this year. So don't make mistakes just let me help.
We want you to hear us and remember what we say. If you don't and then assume we wanted a foot bath and we really wanted a I phone then your in deep trouble. Women the same goes for us as well. We need to hear our men. We might think they wanted a skill saw or a special tool box for their truck. But they might want a video game like COD=Call Of Duty or maybe a fishing pole they had their eyes on.
So this is why we should find ways to ask what they might want or just watch their eyes when you are out doing something. If they focus on an item in the store then more than likely they want it but can't buy it at that moment. If you do buy it and they find it in with all the other gifts then be sure to tell them it is for someone else. ^.~
We never think about the fact that our kids will try there darnedest to get a peek at what they are getting for Christmas. We just automatically think they won't find it. We also want to trust them not to peek and wait for Christmas day and be surprised. Do not be fooled Parents...
Kids will work at any angle to find out because they have no patience. You should remember those days yourself. ^.^
I myself remember our brother finding the bikes in our parents closet and we even took them out and went for a 3 mile trip on them and brought them back without even being found out. Then my son and a friend were at the house while me and the hubby were at work. They managed to open the gifts, knew what it was and then re-wrapped them and we never knew until one day right at Christmas I was setting the presents up to be able to fit more in with the others . I saw one of the gifts weren't normal ,a little roughed up if you might say.
I then realized that they had peeked.Of course I am a sticked mother and took the gift down to a shelter and gave it away. Needless to say they never peeled again. lol So kids will peek and so do we. I still want to know what a gift is but being an adult I know I have to set a good example. ^.^ So we need to make sure to wrap those presents right away.
We all know to well how our little rug rats love Christmas as well. I am talking about of animals. They also have to be watched. We forget about how they are curious and how eating everything in their paths is a problem. Presents and also the tree ornaments are some things they will tear into.
Those things can make them sick and also cause our Christmas shopping problems become even worse.
What I do is I take the pen I have for them and place them inside the pin or I just take the pin and place it around the tree. This helps to keep the tree in order and no missing ornaments and also keeps our animals safe and from harms way. Some of those things on that tree can hurt our animals so bad they end up in animal ER.
Or worse they end up dead. The silver stuff can cause their tummies to get cuts and even cut off blood to them. There are many things that can hurt our babies. Some ornaments are made of glass and some of Styrofoam ,plastic, rubber, plaster etc.
So we need to make sure to keep them away from it. Then we also have chewers. I know they love chewing on cords so make sure to roll those cord or wires up and use bread ties or something and then tack them up high enough they can't reach those wires. The presents will get ripped ope when you leave them out. Yes they have smells to them that a puppy can smell a mile away and will try their darnedest to ripe into them and fine that smell.
So make sure to find some way to close the tree off to where the animals can't reach anything that can harm them.
I believe in my method is a really good one. I make sure to go shopping alone. If I do go with anyone then let it be a friend. I might have to take the hubby sometimes. The only reason for that is a few reasons. They have to be down right needed for one. The other reasons are....
- I can't carry the item in which I am buying
- I might want to see where his eyes go(to buy his gift)
- also only for when I am buying someone else's gifts.
This is why I go alone. Why have all that on your shoulders along with a bunch of gifts you have to buy and make sure that you can find it. Plan ahead before you go out as well. Have that list made up of all the people you are shopping for. Have a few items that they might have said something about instead of just one thing. This way you have something just in-case that item is out.
Kids are hard enough to shop for as it is. So I make a note of things kids are into now and add to it when one of the kids start crying for it in the store. I know that just makes them think they are getting away with the tantrum. But really they aren't because by this time they have forgotten about it and then when they rip it open you get smiles instead.
Now if someone is really hard to buy for because either they have everything or they never say things about their likes. What I do with those kinds of problematic people is I make baskets or gift boxes with favorite stuff they like to snack on or drink. I even find what their hobbies are and buy small items that deal with that hobby. I might also send them a gift card of their favorite game online. Like for example Farmville. ^.^ my favorite anyways. lol
There are many things to go with other than these even. Here is a list..
- catalogs of their favorite things
- Cooking spices and a cook book
- make-up with a gift card for their favorite store
- house shoes with a spa treatment gift certificate
Okay that just about wraps it up on this subject. Tomorrow we talk tree shopping and how to take care of them, when to buy one,is it to soon to buy. Just keep your eyes out for tomorrows blog.
Until then have a great tomorrow. ^.~
